Joy

Flea Market Find
During my last trip to the flea market, I picked up this lovely frame. This past weekend, I made the insert for it from batting and dupioni white silk.
Since it's the holidays and I had just finished writing out my Christmas cards (albeit a tad late), I put the photo card on it for the time being. I had the cards made at Costco using a photo of roses that I'd taken this summer. They came out amazingly good; I'm really happy with the quality.
Soon, I'll replace it with something pretty. Perhaps some sparkly jewelry or a something made of ribbon. Who knows - whatever it is, I'm sure to enjoy it.

Christmas Countdown - Day 23

Feather Tree With Birds

A few years ago, I found this little white feather tree. The actual tree is about seven or eight inches and with the base, it's probably about 12 inches tall. It may be bitty, but it's pretty.
You know how much I love glitter, so these two glitter birds are living happily in the tree.
A tiny silver star adorns the top.
The tree stays up all year, natch. And why not? We need pretty all year long.
See the feather butterfly in the tree? Yes, some of these items are a little big for this tree but I liked the sparkle they added.
It's just a little Merry Christmas tree.

Christmas Countdown - Day 22

Christmas Collage

The day is getting closer...Over the last several weeks, I've been watching holiday programs on tv including favorites Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, Meet Me in St. Louis, the Andy Williams Christmas show from the 1960's, holiday decorating programs on HGTV and holiday food programs featuring traditional treats.

I've made cathedral window chocolate treats, and have been munching on peppermint bark, peppermint waffle cookies, and cocoa drizzle popcorn but I've managed to avoid the egg nog. I have two wreaths, colored lights, and various decorations throughout the house. Presents are complete, but I've yet to send out holiday cards. Mailing labels were just printed so they'll go out just a few days late.

The turkey breast was purchased today (the butcher cut it straight off the turkey and it's making me a bit squeamish. As a former vegetarian, I prefer to buy my turkey already cooked). Stuffing and gravy are ready to go. We are foregoing the pumpkin pie due to the abundance of treats in the house.

I think I'm about ready.

Christmas Countdown - Day 21

Birds in a Glittered Cage

Loving these glittered ornaments I found at Macy's holiday store. So pretty, they will be displayed all year long.

That's all... just sharing some holiday prettiness for today.

Christmas Countdown - Day 20

Hanukkah Cookies
(okay, so it's a week late!)

I'm going to start with a confession. I hoarded these cookies at a work potluck lunch this month.  I know I really shouldn't have; after all, they were brought by someone to share. But I admit that I didn't take them all at once.
No, I waited until many were already gone, including the super cute polar bear (and it was really cute).
If you know me, you can guess why I absconded with these. Can you guess?
If you said it's the sparkles, you are right. These are Gianna's brand cookies and they make the most fabulous sparkly seasonal cookies.
When have I been known to resist sparkles?
Hmm, not ever! When I see pretty cookies, or cupcakes, or other desserts, I just have to photograph them. I can't help myself. I don't eat them so I'm not sure how they taste, but it makes me happy to look at them. By the way, Trader Joe's also carries their cookies with their private label which is a great buy. Tomorrow, back to Christmas!

Christmas Countdown - Day 19

Bottle Brush Trees

Love, love, love.
Alone or together, these little trees bring happiness.
Adorned with tiny little bulbs.
Hmmm... red or green? I think the green is my favorite.
Even the ballerinas like them.
Have a happy day!

Christmas Countdown - Day 18

Glass Bird Dome and Mini Ceramic Stand

Early Christmas present from my sister - how lucky am I! We went to Macy's at least three times to look at this before I finally said yes to it. Did I really need another thing? Hmmm, no.
But, oh! It was so adorable with the little glass bird knob on top. And such a lovely ceramic stand with so much potential to hold things other than cupcakes. It looked heavy but it's actually very light. I finally gave in and I'm so happy with this gift.
Sticking with the bird theme, I placed the little pink glitter bird inside for a rest.
Or, how about fuzzy white snowball garland?
And a pink bow on its stem.
The glass dome is actually a bit crooked but I think I'll live with it. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Christmas Countdown - Day 17

More Pretty Presents

I've mentioned how much I love pretty boxes, no matter what may be inside. These boxes came from DSW, the shoe store.

Full confession here... I bought a gift card just to get the box! Of course I knew that I'd be buying more shoes there, so why not get the gift card to get the box?
And then I asked the clerk if I could have two boxes, since I couldn't make up my mind. Honestly, I just wanted both. How could I go home with just one when there were two to choose from?

Now they area on display with my other little boxes, just making me happy to see them, holiday or not.
