Processed with Kim Klassen textures Charmed and JustCause for Texture Tuesday
Who would have thought that my not-so-clean windows would provide such a great hazy background? In my defense, they are on the second story so it's hard to reach outdoors. Or I'm just not too motivated to clean them with rain approaching!

These are the remnants of last week's flowers - sweet little baby roses. I cut them down and divided them up for their last week. It's funny how some of the blooms dried up while others still looked fresh and perky. No matter, I still love my little pink flowers. Wishing you a most pleasant week.

Softly Roses

Original unretouched.
While taking photos of these roses earlier this month, I wound up overexposing these first shots. Even though the exposure is not correct, I've kept coming back to these images. Technically they may not be very good, but I can't help but love the overall softness.
With color cast removed.
Since the images were a bit green, here I color corrected to neutralize the color cast, but I did not make any other corrections.
With additional editing.
In this last series, I corrected the color cast, adjusted the exposure, increased the contrast, and finally, sharpened it. Even with that additional processing (which made some improvements but it still is not a very good image), my favorite is the second version, with just the color cast removed. Sometimes an image doesn't have to be technically correct to resonate with you. And that's what this one does for me.  I just love the hazy, soft feel. What images do you have that may not be technically correct, but yet draw you to them?

It's a Pumpkin Fest

Love these mini's. I've hunted high and low for more like this with the tendril this year, but I think last year was just lucky. So while I did buy several for this year, these remain my favorite. You can see more from last year here, here, and here. And happy autumn and halloween to you!

Another Fall Day

Oh my. People are sick at work and my sister who lives with me is sick at home. Just doing my best to keep well these days. I think it's time for another pot of chicken soup which is always good during cold and flu season.  Grocery shopping was completed this morning and Mr. Chicken (oops, I guess I should say Mrs. Chicken) is chopped and ready for the pot.

When I left the house this morning, it was still overcast and I actually enjoyed the fall-like feeling in the air for as long as it lasted. The leaves are still barely starting to fall but I have to admit the mild sunny weather is quite nice. There are pumpkins everywhere and it just might be time to whip up some pumpkin muffins this weekend. Would be lovely with a cup of tea!

In fact, it seems like every third item listed in Trader Joe's Fearless Flyer this week was some kind of pumpkin item. I can highly recommend their pumpkin butter - scrumptious on pancakes! Hmmm, I'm afraid I'm making my mouth water for a slice of pumpkin pie topped with freshly whipped cream now. Note to self: add pumpkin pie to next week's shopping list. How about you?

A Dried Rose Bouquet

With all the flowers I've been buying this past spring and summer, I've got quite a collection of dried ones. What fabulous props they make - I just added some ribbon around the stems in this bunch to give them a more luxurious look. I have to admit that my collection is taking up a bit of space, so I think I'll need to edit it down soon as they do become fragile. Not all flowers retain a pleasing look when dried, so it's easy to dispose of those. But the roses are special; they always seem to be beautiful, dried or fresh.

A Pretty Paste-Up

Last weekend, while I was organizing some papers (I know, it never ends!) I found a tablet of paper. When I opened it up, I found this. A paste-up of some calligraphy I did several years ago for a project in our calligraphy guild. Rather than letter everything on one page, often it is done in parts, then each piece is cut out and pasted up before copying.

And what is it? A recipe for a shared recipe book, all done in each person's choice of hand. My choice? Easy. My favorite hand (and the one I do best) is Copperplate.

And the recipe? A very favorite special strawberry sauce that my dad used to make when I was a child.

Oh yum, this was good. I still make it today - it goes over pancakes and waffles. Just mash up some fresh strawberries, add some half-and-half, and just a tiny bit of sugar for sweetness. Let it come to room temperature and viola, a super yummy breakfast!

Autumn Orange Color

Yes, I bought mini-pumpkins but I haven't yet photographed them. It's hard to beat the adorable pumpkin that I found last year. But I did find tiger pumpkins this year, so one did manage to come home with me.
But, I think these orange gerbera daisies are fabulous for autumn. It's a nice transition from summer into    autumn, don't you think?

By the way, it's "anything goes" today at the Kim Klassen Cafe, where people will be sharing favorite photos. Check out some wonderful images - next week it's back to the regular Texture Tuesday. Be inspired!

Designing Days

I'm happy to say that I have a new blog design coming soon. Yes, I really like the current design...the colors, the flowers, the little dots. It's so me. It's how I feel inside and dare I say, even look like on many days when I pretty-up in my sparkly rhinestones, high heels and vintage dress.

But, it's been over three years and it just feels, well, dated. So I'm going for a fresh look that's still me. I don't know what it will look like yet, but I've given my ideas to a designer so we'll see very soon.

Gerbera Goodness

All photos processed with textures created by Kim Klassen.

Do you love gerbera daisies as much as I do? Each week as I do my grocery shopping, I peruse the assortment at Trader Joe's, trying to decide on the color combination that calls out to me. I really liked these large white and pink gerberas so they made it as my choice this week. I also could not pass up some lovely light pink roses, but I'll save those for another day!

For the photos this week, I applied the textures just to the backgrounds as I wanted the flowers to show through in their full glory.

Yes, I've said it before but it bares worth repeating - these flowers just look so happy. And being sensitive to my surroundings, that happiness just rubs off on me every time I look at them. Often, I will break up the bunch and distribute them among several small vases or jars. So pretty to display them together like that or to place them throughout the house.

I know someone else who loves gerbera daisies and that's Kim at the Kim Klassen Cafe. So Kim, theses are for you today. Every Tuesday, Kim hosts Texture Tuesday - if you pop on over there, you can read my guest post this week.

I want to thank Kim for having me as her guest today. I've been participating in Texture Tuesday for a while and I'm so happy to be part of her community. You'll meet the nicest people there! Right now, I'm also taking Kim's classes Beyond Layers II, Make It Sparkle and Round Trip (and recently finished Behind the Scenes with Kim and Xanthe). So many new ideas!

I can proudly say that I'm finally really learning how to use Lightroom as a result of her lessons. So exciting! There is so much content, that I'm just keeping up right now but I will be putting to use many of her tips, tricks and techniques. I can't wait.

Thank you so much for visiting today. I'm so happy I could share some floral goodness with you - I hope it put a smile on your face.

Is there something that calls out to you that always brings a little cheer into your life?
