It's A Gerbera Day

Photos processed with textures by Kim Klassen for Texture Tuesday
It's a gerbera day today. These first two photos were placed on the window sill with the light behind them. It was one of those cool surprises when I uploaded the photos to see how they looked almost translucent.

This last photo has no texture applied to it so you can see the difference. This one would be great with a texture too, but I love the simplicity and clean color as it is now. Gotta love Spring!

My Summer Bedroom

My favorite time of year -- summer. My bedroom fills with light and the sun streams in during the afternoon. Each day, I'll find Gracie cat-napping here soaking up the rays.

This is the only room that is a shade off-white in my house. I really love color and all other rooms are painted in warm colors including yellow, green and taupe (or hot chocolate, as I like to call it). That being said, I wouldn't mind having more rooms in white as I really like white rooms with white furnishings also. At the time I painted my house, I got around to all the rooms except this one and then realized that it didn't need to have a warm color so it works for me as is. It also helps when I do photography in here as I don't get all those color casts on my photos.

Yes, pink is still my favorite color and I've not grown tired yet of my Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic bedroom. The cathedral ceiling adds a spaciousness and allows for more light to filter through the top window. With the floral theme, small touches of spring green are dotted throughout.

Touches of happy - that's what I decorate with.

The three cones are made with vintage and French style papers. Another lucky find at a garage sale by a home stager in my neighborhood last summer.

We have a pretty good flea market at a local community college each month. The boxed set was a purchase from a vendor selling new household decor at great prices.

Aside from the two pine pieces, there are two white tables and a white bookcase. I'd love to have all white furnishings, but just haven't been motivated to paint the pine.

Under this bedside table, I keep my stack of reading material. If you looked, you'd find lots of magazines and some books, plus a notebook or two and a pen. You never know when you might need to job down a thought or two after you've gone to bed!

Gracie loves our bedroom, too. It takes about an hour to get the sheets changed because she hops right up for a nap before I can complete it. She does look a bit sleepy, doesn't she? She and I will enjoy our light and airy bedroom for the rest of the summer. Once summer is over, we don't get the fabulous afternoon sun so much but it's the one thing I look forward to each year. And I know Gracie does too.

Read Any Good Books Lately?

Here's what's on my nightstand...

I'm just getting some different perspectives on photography and gleaning some good tips. Food Photography has been really interesting. Even though I don't shoot a lot of food, it has great info that is applicable in many situations. And it's inspiring me to actually set up more food vignettes. The crafter's guide to taking great photos has lots of info for taking close-up photography - great for people who have Etsy shops. Expressive Photography is pure inspiration.

Oh, and the two pink and turquoise magazines on the bottom? Artful Blogging by Stampington publications. Interesting articles and photography that makes me what to grab my camera.

A Peony A Day

Above photo processed with Happy Heart texture by Kim Klassen for Texture Tuesday.
It's still peony season and one of the things I love is how different they can be as seen here.

Here's the same photo as above without a texture applied. So fun to change it up with textures!

My current bunch of peonies are all light pink unlike this surprise bunch.

Last weekend, they had all white peonies at Trader Joe's but I passed them up only because I still had a lot of flowers left at home.

However, I'm going to be looking for them this weekend! I'm not sure when the peony season ends so I'm trying to maximize the opportunity while I can. And then? Hmmm....gerbera daisies!

Some Cool Things

 Fabulous magazine, love the cover!

Springy, great colors (my favorites)

Wonderful articles, just like watching the best of HGTV

Pick it up!
Latest edition of Mollie Makes - I just picked it up at Barnes and Noble.

I love everything about this magazine. The photos, the projects, the articles.

I just ohhh and ahhh the whole time.
In the latest issue, there was a freebie second pub called let's get hitched! full of wedding info.

Very cool!
Oh, and check out my latest find from Target. I love this bag!
It's sort of like a cross between burlap and linen. Very roomy though.
I also found these little beauties. They are only about five or six inches high so they are perfect to fit in a purse. Do I need them? No. My name is Sharon and I am a notebook junkie.

Really, who could resist?

A Good Day Every Day

Love this saying and this notebook. Yes, I'm a sucker for notebooks and have more than I can fill in quite a few years. But when I saw this at Target, it practically jumped into my cart. I've gotten some great ones at Target over the years so I'm always on the lookout for another. My preference is the spiral bound because they're easy to flip over and write in, especially if I'm getting comfy on the floor or bed. But, I don't think I'll fill all the notebooks because there's always a new one around the corner!

A Little More Spring Goodness

Vignette

A sunny spring day...
some beautiful flowers...
lightness, soft colors.
Just pretty.

Well, here's Miss Gracie taking a cat nap in our bedroom. "Our" being the operative word here. By now you know that I am owned by this cat!
