O' Happy Day
Ah, the weekend. So glad to see it come. So sad to see it end when it goes so fast.
Farmer's market (and the best salmon and corn ever!)
Whole Foods for a strawberry whipped cream cake
Homemade chicken soup
Crepe paper and banners strung about
Friends and family
A birthday celebration
And next week, a three-day weekend (yippee!)

|All photos processed with the DreamIt texture by Kim Klassen for Technique Tuesday.|
Does this look dreamy? Since the name of the texture I used to process these photos is DreamIt, I thought I would try and make the images reflect that theme.
That's me. Just California dreamin'.

Hello lovely people... did you have a good weekend? It was low key around here. Weekly errands including lots of fab things from the farmers market. Besides yummy fruits and tomatoes, they have the best salmon I've tasted. That was last night's dinner and it was soooo good.
Today Gracie insisted I spend some time with her while she rolled around in the sun. That's pretty much par for the course. She even followed me down the stairs, meowed loudly and herded me back up the stairs! Glad I could make her one happy cat.
I photographed more flowers too, (thank you Trader Joe, my trusty flower source). Unfortunately, my Tamron 90mm macro lens had a big hiccup and will have to be sent in for repair. I'm going to miss my lens while it's gone but hopefully it will come back like new.
Next week is my dad's 88th birthday so I'll be planning a special meal for him this week. I'm thinking pasta with some farmers market veggies. Oh, and a whipped cream strawberry cake for dessert. Still have some thinking to do on the main meal but an heirloom tomato salad might be perfect.
Happy week to you!

Mom at 82
Recently I was visiting my mom at her house. I had brought her these flowers and was taking some photos. I told her I wanted to take a picture of her but that her head would not be in it as I wanted to get this shot. She laughed and thought that was so odd but I told her it was art. So here she is, posing for me with the flowers. I rather like it.

So glad I bought the large bottle of white acrylic paint. I was ready to donate this memo board when I remembered I still had paint left over from painting the tray. I didn't care for the original color which was almost black, so I painted the frame white. Loved it! But something still wasn't quite right, so I painted a wash over the cork inside. Now I really love it.
Here's the memo board before it was painted. This color looks good in the right setting, but it was just too dark for my room. So glad to have changed it up that I actually did the same thing with two other memo boards in the same room!
Second project of the day: taking this photo frame and replacing the glass with batting and pink dupioni silk fabric. So super easy!
I just cut a piece of heavy card stock a little shorter than the inner frame (about 5 7/8 x 3 7/8 inches), cut a piece of batting to fit, and wrapped it in fabric. The fabric is just taped on the back and then the frame backing piece was replaced and it was done.
I'm so loving this project too - it's sparkly and feminine (and truth be told, the old photo I had in there just did not do it justice). I chose to display some of my pins on it. Oh, and I actually created two of these plus a third one that was half the size (I used white dupioni silk fabric on the small one).
Did I clean house today or cook a meal? Not really, but I did enjoy working on my special projects. Sometimes a girl just has to do what a girl has to do.

So much great information and so many great tips from Kim in her recent Behind the Scenes class. In one video, she talked about using a tray for setting up a vignette. Ding, ding, ding! I had a dark green tray hiding my closet that I've almost donated away in the past years. It was too dark in color to use, so when I heard Kim's tip, I thought why not paint it?
A trip to Michaels to stock up on white paint and voila! I love my new white tray.
What's in store for the weekend? Farmer's market, Trader Joe's for more flowers, a local flea market and of course spending time with Miss Gracie, who has grown into a very needy cat.
Enjoy your day!

Just sharing three fav photos for Texture Tuesday at the Kim Klassen Cafe. No texture needed, just share a favorite photo today. So here are three...
Got to love ranunculus flowers; I'm waiting for March just to get more!
Ah, my favorite color too. Such a lovely pink.
A beautiful heart made by Miss Jodie of Everything Vintage. Now a decorative element in my creative area. Must admit, I love the faux glass door knob it's hanging from, too.
Enjoy your week!
