Tulip Time

While I was at Trader Joe's last weekend, I picked up these wonderful tulips. The daffodils have gone to work with me and these beautiful little fellows are happily residing in my kitchen. What a wonderful feeling to wake up each day and see fresh flowers in the spaces I spend most of my time.

Searching for an appropriate tulip quote, it was surprising that not many came up. However, this sweet little poem surfaced. I love the visual that it conjures up. Enjoy!

Daffodils - A Harbinger of Spring

Lovely, cheery daffodils. I know it's Spring when Trader Joe has box loads of them, all waiting to be taken home for a drink of water. Just a day later, I awaken to a fabulous spray of yellow. What can be cheerier than that?

Waiting for Spring

It's been days of rain, or at least it seems like it, so I'm thinking of spring flowers. And you?

Flea Market Style - Packed With Fabulous Finds

Have you seen the latest issue of Flea Market Style? The second issue, recently released, is another feast for the eyes. If vintage and distressed are your style, you're sure to love this magazine. Each issue is packed with fabulous ideas and gorgeous photos.

I especially loved the article Pretty in Pink and Green. After all, who doesn't love that color combination? The vintage verdigris bird cage is adorned with tea cups but you could fill it with any pink themed items. Imagine making a little vignette with pink, green and white knick knacks and pearls strung around the cage.

The next time I'm at the flea market, pink tatting will be on my list of items to keep an eye out for. It's a beautiful way to wrap gifts as an alternative to ribbon.

As Heather Bullard says here, "Every shade works beautifully together." And isn't that so true? I know I'm constantly combining various shades.

You'll also find lots of ideas for setting the table with vintage finds. Three wonderful ways are shown: using jadeite manufactured from the 40's through 70's; depression era glass in its classic shapes and colors; and with hand-painted rose-pattern China. No matter which you choose, your setting will certainly be a hit with guests. Any one of these is perfect for a quaint social or tea in the afternoon.

In another article entitled Bake Sale, you'll find quite a number of ways (at least a baker's dozen!) to use vintage packaging and old baking equipment to spice up any occasion featuring baked goods. My favorite idea is using old-time, wax-paper ice cream cups to hold frosted cup cakes decorated to look like ice cream sundaes, complete with a cherry on top. How fun and your friends and family will love it!

Heather Bullard is the Senior Editor of this must-have magazine and her personal stamp is all over it. If you are familiar with her, you already know that she stands for vintage beauty and her photography is such that you can't help but swoon. Don't let this issue slip away from you; it's one that you'll keep out on your coffee table and will read over and over.

Waiting for Spring

Oh, the weather outside is stormy but it's just two more days until Spring. With a forecast of rain all week long, it will be a wet start to Spring. No matter, flowers are popping up all over, the neighborhood ducks are having a grand time and it's already Daylight Savings Time.

For now, I'll enjoy the rain and nestle in for another day.  So good for nesting, homemade soup and spending time on the computer. Now if only I could find a wonderful old black and white movie on t.v. That would be a perfect weekend.

Garden Days Are Here

The reading fairy is quite pleased to see Spring approaching.

However, it is with some sadness as we see our beloved cherry blossom trees lose these beautiful blossoms. Only 10 more months until we see them again.

No matter. The garden bunny, frogs and fairy are ready for some warmer weather and sunshine.

A garden just must have some whimsey.

So the reading fairy sits just outside the front door with her book, engrossed in its pages.

The frog sits nearby, next to a delectable green mushroom.

The mushrooms are my newest addition. I found them at Target recently and was so delighted.

I even sent my sister back to buy more. In colors of red, green, blue and gold, they add another touch of whimsey to my fanciful garden. What is in your garden today?

Damask Decor - How Fabulous!

One pattern that I adore is damask. Did you know damask has been around for over 10 centuries? How timeless this still is today.

It's both modern, yet old world so it fits in easily. I just love the design and antique feel of it.

While the black and white is a favorite with its clean, fresh look, it looks great in any color. If you are interested in knowing a little more about the history of this delightful pattern, you can read more here

Time for Tea?

Almost Spring. That gets me thinking about having a tea party; wouldn't that be nice? The flowers are beginning to bloom, the sun is shining (at least for today!) and tonight we change our clocks ahead for Daylight Savings Time. Now, isn't it beginning to feel like tea party time, too?

Birthday Script

Thank goodness for birthdays - the occasion insists that I take out my pens and ink to create something of beauty.

Roses, Roses, Roses!

Making roses this past weekend...

...using yummy Hanah silk ribbon.

The roses in my yard are not blooming yet...

...isn't this just the next best thing?

It's an Epiphanie!

Yes, I have an Epiphanie and it begins with this. I think these are definitely words to live by.

Upon opening the box left at my door by our friendly UPS person yesterday, this is what I found. A package within a package.

Oh, the suspense. Of course, I knew what I had ordered but it was finally here. And it was right inside this bag.

What is it? My pink Belle camera bag by Epiphanie! Yes, I too have tired of carrying my camera in the standard man-style camera bag. Women, we don't have to do that anymore! It's time to carry a stylish bag that no longer screams "camera bag"!

Look at the fabulous color combination - pink on the outside and spring green on the inside. Can it get any better?

I considered several bags by different makers, but kept coming back to this one. However much I love it,  I must admit that it is a bit bigger than is ideal for me. However, that's because I'm more on the petite side but most of these bags seem to be a bit large. The good news is that there is plenty room for my camera, lenses and any additional items I'd like to add.

And now I can be the girly-girl that I am with my new pink and green Epiphanie bag. That makes me very happy.
