Journals - Another Bad Habit?

Do you have a tendency to overbuy journals that catch your eye? I did some big house cleaning and organizing recently and came upon a whole bunch on top of a bookcase. Yes, I admit that if it has flowers, the color pink, a bird, a damask pattern or perky stripes, I might buy it. So this big pile went off to storage in the garage.

This was only one pile. I have more in two other rooms. I must have found 25 or so unused or partially used journals. While I do keep a journal, I don't write in it very often. Rather, I use these beautiful books to keeps lists and notes. And, I have more than one going at once depending on the topic. Do you share my addiction for journals and if so, what do you do with yours?

Hi Sharon:
A fun habit that you relish with abandon : )
I am going to e-mail you in a few moments.
When I use top paint I carried a water color paper journal and used it up completely; I do not even have a journal and I am like you a real list maker : )
Take care, my friend

I do that too. :) I can't resist them - they are just too pretty sometimes! I haven't figured out what to do with all mine either.

Oh dear. Miss Gracie can't use them and I cringe at the thought of them being alone in the garage.
Since you buy them for the beautiful covers and don't really "use" them, my thoughts would be to unbind them and create beautiful canvases with the covers. It would give you a hefty backboard plus they are already beautiful. They would only need your personal touch and embellishments!!!!
This is only a thought. If they were mine, they would not be headed to the garage as it would be repurpose time and another reason to CREATE!!!
I'm sure you will come up with something totally beautiful...afterall, you bought them because you loved them!
everything vintage

Hi Sharon,

I love Journals too, but do not have as many as you.
I enjoy writing and posting photographs and lovely things in mine.
A good way to keep mementos safe.

Hugs
Carolyn

Carole: yes, they are wonderful for lists!

Karen: just one of many creative addictions!

Laura: too many journals and not enough time!

Jodie: Miss Gracie is super smart, but alas, she can't write. :-( If truth be told, I do move them back and forth from the garage but this time I just had to declutter my house.

Dena: thanks so much for the wonderful note. I've visited your blog today and left a message for you.

Cindy: Me too!

Carolyn: Hmmm.... the difference is probably that you have self control and I don't. :-0

Hugs,
Sharon

Oh boy Sharon, I love, love, love journals! I keep a daily journal, and art journal and I am currently working through two guided journals. If you've never seen these, they are journals that have guided questions and prompts that encourage you to explore your innermost thoughts, feelings and ideas. I like to think of them as free therapy...LOL. I found mine at Barnes and Noble and I just adore them. :)

My cousin gave me the idea of buying a composition notebook from WalMart for a whopping .35 cents, which I then scrapped the front of. I use it to collect recipes and put in favorite pictures from old magazines, craft ideas and such -- then I pass the magazines on to someone else. I also jot down quotes that I might use downthe road. The book goes with me wherever I go so I always have a place to write down creative and inspirational ideas. Plus, can always write notes in it when I make or do something that reminds me whether it worked out or not. :)

I just sorted a whole pile of journals too not long ago, some partially used, some blank. I am determined to try and use just one for lists and to do's but then I fall into using multiple ones and get so disorganized!! I have no idea how I'll ever use them all either!!
